It certainly has been awhile, hasn't it? Guess I can blame it on life. It just seems to get in the way sometimes, doesn't it?

Oh, well....I wanted to stop by and let you know about the Sunshine Studio Scraps Valentine's Day Blog Train.

It starts on the SUN blog and I have something there for those of you who choose to ride along and collect some Sunshine love.

I was sitting here on my last day of my 3 day weekend and realized how long it really has been since I posted last. I am sorry that I have not updated before now. I did not fall off the earth, LOL I have just been super busy with work and I am currently battling back problems. I am hoping that physical therapy will help as I am going to Florida in a few months and want to have a good time.

In Sunshine news, we have a few new designers and a whole new crop of Sunshine Sweeties. The designers also have a new Collaboration Grab Bag for only $3.00 for the entire month of September!

…well not here. Here where I live, we are having one heck of a snowstorm. But out there in digi-land it is the sunny weekend at Sunshine Studio Scraps. That means all new releases are 30% off on Saturday and Sunday!

Live from the 93rd Indy 500

Well, as I sit here in the stands, it certainly is fairly hot for this time of year. There is a little breeze and some rain on the radar to the south. It has been pretty cool up until this week.

The singing of "Back Home Again in Indiana", the National Anthem and the military fly over were awesome as always. They also did a 21 gun salute and played Taps to honor the military men and women who have lost their lives. After all, that is what Memorial Day is really all about. Remembering those who have given their lives to defend our country.

There was a bad start when some drivers jumped ahead before they reached the Yard of Bricks. They had to come around and line up again to start again! Then there is a wreck in the first lap. This could prove to be a very interesting race! And as I am writing this, in lap 21 there is another wreck! This could definitely be a very interesting race!

I think that it might finally be here. It seems like I have waited quite a while for it to show up this year. Here is why I think it might be here:

I was wearing my winter coat, and my hands were freezing, but I was wandering around the grounds of the local art museum and their Magnolia tree was really trying to convince me it is spring.

I can’t wait to see what will bloom next!

G’day Mates! Wonder Girl Janel joining you on Bondi Beach, just outside of Sydney, Australia! I hope that you had a “wonder”ful time visiting with Teri in Waikiki!

I am having such a wonderful time here at Bondi Beach! I am so glad you could join me to enjoy the blue skies. How about we just wander up and down the beach listening to the surf and enjoying ourselves. Isn't this just a beautiful place to relax and just enjoy life.

Have you been picking up the designer party favors along the way? I sure hope so! You should have 4 so far. Bondi Beach is the last beach of the Wonder Girls beach party, so you will now have the complete set of "Designer Extras" that coordinate with the Bahama Mama collab by the Sunshine Studio Designers.

Well it is time to leave this lovely beach and head on back home. If you missed any of the beaches, hop back on the plane and head back to the first beach on the SUN blog.

I wanted to take the time of my busy schedule this week to wish a good friend of mine, Teri, a very Happy Birthday. …no, I did not fall of the earth! Thank goodness for gravity! I have just been really busy and very neglectful of my blog.

It is supposed to be a beautiful day today, about 70 F, and as I sit and write this I can hear the birds outside. Can it be?? Is spring finally on it’s way?? One can only hope! Think I will go out later and try to find it!

ADSR4 Challenge 12

You can ask any one person (dead or alive; family, friend, famous or foe) one question. Who would it be and what would you ask them?
Here are some layout requirements:
1. Your layout can have only ONE photo. The photo must either be of the person to whom you are posing the question OR must represent the question you are asking.
2. You MUST include your question in your layout and your question can be the ONLY words/journaling on your layout.

ADSR 4, Challenge Number 9

This week’s challenge is: Generations.
Your scrapbook page completed for this challenge must include:

Photos of at least two generations of family members (the more generations, the better).
Lace
Something metal, preferably, old metal.
At least one flower.
At least one vintage or retro-style element. It can be ephemera, an old book, an old clock, and so on.

So here is my layout

My brother, myself, my mother, my grandmother, my great-grandmother, and my great-great grandmother (seated)
The lace is an actual doily crocheted by my great-grandmother, that I photographed and extracted.

This is what my Wednesday looked like. I have mentioned I really don't like snow, haven't I??? And this is alot of snow for us. Sixth largest snow on record, 13 inches!

So, I have to admit apartment living is pretty good; somebody cuts the grass, people fix things when the break....I am pretty sure that means that they should plow the parking lots and sidewalks. Turns out when they do plow, they plow the empty spot next to you and then you can't even see the side of your truck. (This pic is before they plowed!) And I have to tell you, living in an apartment.... I do not own a shovel! I spent the afternoon digging out my truck with a kitchen broom! Trust me I know how silly I looked, cause all my neighbors were doing the same thing!

ADSR4 Challenge 6

Here were the rules:
Only 1 person on the team can particpate. Choose a layout from your partners gallery and scraplift it using the following direction:

Take your chosen layout from your partners gallery and flip it either horizontally or vertically.
Now take the layout and rotate it 45 degrees.
You must use this new version as the sketch for your layout.
When creating your layout you must use the EXACT same number of items that your partner used in the original layout, no more, no less.

ADSR4 challenge #5

here is the challenge:
Create a layout that has no photos on it, but includes at least 3 different and separate photo frames. Create a page to record and preserve special thoughts, feelings and/or memories with a little thought and planning and with the creative use of photo frames and journaling (although journaling is not required for this challenge).

Since challenge 5 is already posted, I wanted to share my layouts from challenges 3 and 4. Eek, only a little behind....

Challenge #3
Find the first layout you created that is still uploaded to a gallery and scraplift it using techniques, trends and concepts that you have learned since you did that original layout.

You can...

You can use a different kit, elements, papers, brushes, shapes, etc.
You can add and remove elements, papers, etc.
You can use a different sized canvas.
You can move things around and change the overall sketch of the layout.
You can use the first layout uploaded to any gallery.

You can not...

You can not add additional photos to the layout.
You can not remove any photos from the layout.
You can not add additional text to the layout. The only text that appears on the layout must be identical in verbiage to what it was originally.

Challenge #4

The Art of it: Your LO must have artistic flair! Literally! Your LO must have at least 3 things "artsy" and/or "altered" on it.
The Soul of it: You must journal something from your Soul. Something positive, heartfelt and meaningful to you in your life! Something you've learned, something you've gleaned from your life experience.

This challenge was a little tougher, both team mates needed to work collaboratively on this project! 2 racers / 1 final product!

The theme is Cabin Fever
and Must include:
3 photos
4 papers only (no more or less)
8 different elements - at least 1 must be acrylic
2 different fonts
Must have a title, and journaling

Thank goodness for Yahoo messenger and being able to chat and send photos back and forth. That made things a little easier, LOL

Anyway, here is our collaborative LO using the Radiation Collab by the Sunshine Designers!

Well then let me tell you about the new one that is over there, I am a guest this month for Designs by Sine. What do you mean, "Who is Sine?" She is the goddess of template designers. She has the most amazing fresh templates available, and I must say I love them!!!

SO I used one of her template sets, SO Reviewed and made a layout featuring my most favorite basketball player, yep, you got it, I scrapped a layout of Kira!

.....it just never seems to stop! And if you recall from my previous post, I really don't like it! The weather man forecasts another 10 inches today. Though I have to say, I am going to have some good pics to scrap and I have found the perfect kit to use and it is on sale!

Can you believe they put their entire store on sale! I feel some shopping coming on!!!

Home for the Holidays! And Birthday Wishes!

I made the long trek to Michigan on Thursday. The roads were in great shape, meaning no ice or snow! It takes a while to get here, but just being in my home state gives me a feeling of being home. Here is the rest area at the border.

I am not really a fan of snow but it looks so pretty on the trees.

So, I mentioned that I don't like snow, right, well this is why:

Is it a bad sign when the snow is taller than the snow blower? All that came down in about 8 hours on Friday, so my parents and I just stayed inside and just enjoyed our time together. This morning, Saturday, was soon enough to tackle that mass of snow!

I also wanted to say Happy Birthday to my crafty friend Tina! I got to have breakfast with her on Thursday before I left town so we could chat and catch up. Check out the gorgeous Christmas cards she made! She is so talented!!!
Well I had better wrap it up here and get cleaned up, apparently we are going shopping this afternoon!

The Story of Kira and the Hats

The definition of Hat, according to Websters Dictionary is a covering for the head usually having a shaped crown and brim; a distinctive head covering.

These hats have been hidden in a closet since July. Kira's mom bought them when we were vacationing in Alaska! If your daughter were going away to play basketball for the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies and you found a hat that looked like a bear, you would buy it wouldn't you??? Would you buy 4 of them??? We love the hats! We had so much fun at the store looking for the perfect ones. The eyes had to look just right, and the tongue had to be sticking out the right way. I have to admit, at the time, I imagined the heads under the hats to be Kira's mom, her step-dad, and 2 of her 3 siblings. I found out that her mom imagined the heads under the hats to be the 3 siblings and step-dad! LOL Of course the mom knows the daughter very well, she knew the daughter was going to be mad! (that is the polite word!) So, let me repeat, we love the hats! We, 4 adults (Mom, Step-dad, and 2 family friends and NO siblings!) proudly wore them to the game Friday night to cheer on our girl. Mom was right, Kira didn't like them, in fact Kira hated them. If a look could send a hat up in flames, all of our heads would have been on fire!!! Next time, when more family can attend a game, we are going to encourage grandpa and her 3 siblings to wear the hats to see if Kira is more embracing of them!!! So I leave you a picture of us in the hats!

We have some new changes for Sunshine Wonder Week!

We are going to have fewer challenges during the actual Sunshine Wonder Week.
We want you to have fun, not stress about getting all the challenges done, LOL!!!

We are still going to have the kit made by the Wonder Girls but the fun will last all month with that kit!

Here are all the details:

Please join the Wonder Girls each week of this month to gather our version of Sweet Afternoon! It is based on the amazing Sweet Afternoon kit by the Sunshine Studio Designers, of course!
Here is how it works:

Each week we will give away 1/4 of the Wonder Girl Sweet Afternoon kit.
You scrap a layout. Our one condition is that at least 50% of your layout must be from the Wonder Girl Sweet Afternoon kit.
Upload your layout to this gallery and link us up here in this thread. Doing this makes sure we don’t miss anyone!
After each week ends the Wonder Girls will vote on the best LO for the week and the winner gets a $5 gift certificate to the store!
At the end of the 4th week, a monthly winner will be chosen to receive a $25 gift certificate to the store, and you don’t have to be a weekly winner to qualify!!!

And if you collect all the downloads each week, you will end up with this amazing kit!

Sunsets are for the Birds and other random news....

......I am serious! I am on vacation in Florida and I like to sit back and enjoy the sunset, maybe have a margarita while I am sitting there. Either way, I haven't really had the chance to enjoy one. The past 2 nights it has been really cold here (OK, so cold for Florida temperatures anyway) and I have watched the sunset under a blanket. And the night before these past two chilly nights, the sunset was obscured by birds! Check it out:

These past few nights are not really the way that I envisioned my vacation sunsets to go....I guess I will try again tonight!

The Sunflowers are a great group of 5 gals that have been in a designer apprentice program of sorts at Sunshine Studio Scraps. Since there are 5, Kiki Halbert was nice enough to step in and round out the bunch so that each kit could be developed by a group of 2. Can you believe they come up with these amazing kits! So it has been an awesome week for me! On Monday, I had a freebie featured on Ikea Goddess' Blog and last night I found out that I have a quick page album up for sale in the Sunshine Studio Scraps Shop.

Can you believe it? How cool is that?? This is what it has to feel like to be famous!!! LOL

Lauren and Amy, of the amazing design team, Polka Dot Plum, have a new kit out. I gave you a sneak peek earlier this week and now, the big reveal!!

It is available at Scrap Orchard and at Sunshine Studio Scraps. I had a chance to use it already and made this layout. The colors and textures in this kit are just wonderful. I love it.

Last minute news: The Vasco and Ellie chat has been postponed. ...I so love being on the inside. I get to know about all the good stuff!!

So, here is the secret......Amy and Lauren, the designers behind Polka Dot Plum, have been hard at work on a new kit and have created Her First Kiss. Do you remember your first kiss? Does it bring back sentimental feelings?

This kit is delicate and feminine with soft pinks and muted browns. It is beyond beautiful.

This new kit will be available Friday at both Scrap Orchard and Sunshine Studio Scraps. And now for the moment you have all been waiting for ---- the sneak peek!

First off, I would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Vasco! He is the fearless leader of all the Wonder Girls at SUN and a fab designer!!! I was going to make actual cupcakes and send them, but I figured they would not have survived crossing the Atlantic, so I just ate the frosting out of the can and called it good!!! I hope you have an amazingly "wonder"ful day!!

Have you seen what is going on at Funky Playground Designs? It is huge, they are having a Teacher's Pet Program, and some very well know designers are participating. The amazing part is they are putting their entries up for free, yes - FREE!!! You just need to be registered to receive their newsletter which contains the password to unzip the files. You have to hurry, though, week 1 is ending and the links will disappear. I am waiting (im)patiently for week 2 links.

Gone for a while
